Updated to Win 8.1 and just started having this issue. Will launch a game and it will minimize right away and everytime I click to open it it will minimize right back down. It's getting pretty frustrating and I have no idea how to fix this.

This is really frustrating, anyone know what can be causing this? Happened after the move to 8.1 from 8. Launch a game, instantly minimize to the background, then click it and minimizes instantly again and stays in the task bar though I can hear it in the background.

Nope, No idea.

The information you gave is that you went from Windows 8 to 8.1 and that a game you played before just stuck minimized.

What can a person do to help with this information? No idea what the game is? No system specs? No idea if you even updated to Windows 8.1 Update 1? No idea if you tried re-installing it or run it in compatibility mode?

Better question to ask is Can anyone help you based off the information you provided? Unless the person is physic then no.

Well it's all games so far, other things won't start on boot now either.

Is there a link to install a Win 8 8.1 SP1 64 bit bootable disc? I'll just reformat because I'm sure some incompatibilities came with the 8-8.1 update

Before you take the drastic step of reformatting, try going to your video card manufacturer's web site for Windows 8.1 drivers.

As other have said, you haven't given us any specifics but I'm pretty positive that it's not 'incompatibilities'. In fact, make sure all your Windows Updates are completed.

Here's a video with 100 game demos on Windows 8.1. It ranges from 1988 games through newly released. All work just fine with Windows 8.1. In fact, Windows 8.1 fixed a bunch of game compatibility issues.

If the video drivers don't do the trick, give us some specs about your system, the games, 'other things won't start on boot'.

There's plenty of people who would like to help you if you give us enough information.
