Norton is your first problem. But for a 60 year old novice, I'll give you that one.

Get rid of that Dinosaur! Your computer will thank you for it.

AS a working Computer tech, the Norton Removal Tool is my favorite piece of Software.

There may be other protection software running on your PC that is protecting you , from downloading some piece of software that is not good, and that may damage your PC or windows.

Have you researched that software, to see if maybe it contains Spyware or Worse. ???

When my own PC refuses to download something, there is usually a very good reason for it.

My own HOST file contains the addresses of literally thousands of bad sites that I absolutely cannot go to.
I don't see that as a bad thing, but a good thing, keeping me safe. I run a program called "Hosts Manager" that downloads new entries to my hosts file every week. It's all in an effort to keep me out of trouble. :)

Laters!

PS: I just did what you should have done, before posting here. I Googled "National League of Poker" and got tens of sites that reported it as BAD. See for yourself.

Among my own computer customers, the worse time I have is with guys who insist on Playing On-Line Poker. Those sites are loaded with spyware and tracking cookies. They are the Pits! I absolutely cannot protect any computer where the user refuses to listen to me, and insists on playing on-line poker. They are also watched closely by the ABC boys. (FBI, NSA, CIA, etc.) and they know every person who plays those sites. Not my idea of a fun time! Eh?

Hello mage, you are so right about Norton, with McAfee it's the worst crappware around. As for those sites for poker and such gambling places are definitely monitored by agencies all over the world, especially by taxmen, heck NSA has stuck their noses even in WoW.

Hello,

Sorry for the trouble. I am Vineeth and I am from the Norton Support team.

There is no way Norton would have caused this problem. However; if you want to check this, please uninstall the Norton product and see if the problem persists. To uninstall the Norton product, run the Norton Removal Tool as mentioned here: http://www.Norton.com/nrt

Let me know the result. I'll help you to reinstall the Norton product.

Thanks!
