Solved Sim City 3000 Slow Motion

To start off, this game runs great on my laptop, Ran great on XP, Vista, 7, and now I am trying to use it on windows 8.1.

Basically the game just runs choppy and slow, and no changing of any of the settings do anything, nothing in the compatibility mode either.

I have no idea why, Windows 8 has been great for my other old games, but for this game it just runs slow and choppy. Which I again will say isn't my computer.

Any ideas? Yes I tried google, and tried what the reddit post guy said.

Okay, for some reason it only works in 8bit color and without maxing the games resolution. Which is disappointing and I blame windows 8.1 :/

microsoft doesnt want you to play simcity 3000 on windows 8 and up.

they want you to play battlefield 4 and chat with your friends on facebook.


windows 8 isnt about old school gaming. its about the next generation in gaming.

stupid microsoft.....

Well. Considering Im playing games from the 90's and early 2000. And they all work fine, I would say thats untrue. If anything games run better then they did on Windows 7.

Now for Sim City 3000. It only lags on the highest resolution, and trying the GOG version of Roller Coaster Tycoon 2, I found using the highest resolution also caused problems. (Fixed for RT2)

I would love sim city 3000 at a higher one, but I think whatever the problem Is I can fix. If not Ill downgrade to Vista.
