How many Times Do I Have to Say NO to Micro$oft?

How many times do I have to Say NO to Micro$oft?
Everytime I want to play a game, I am asked the same question, (see screenshot)
    I always say no.
Is there a way to stop this "Spam" from Micro$oft?

Usually the only time you get this in Microsoft games is when you have lost, and are attempting to continue on, and are looking for a redeal to continue the game without a lost. This happens regardless of what game you are playing. It really has noting to do with MS. So if you do not want to see the ad don't attempt to play any further once you have lost the game, or cannot go any further.

Actually, that's not exactly the case. I play Solitaire more than any other and I've never had what the OP shows for it. However, every time I play Tri Peaks, (whether it's called a loss or a win, the game has to end at some point), I get something similar to what the OP gets. EVERY TIME, not just once-in-awhile.

There are about a zillion free solitaire games in the app store, maybe one of those won't spam you...

AND that would finally make the metro half somewhat useful. Dedicate it completely to solitaire.

    Hi there
I believe the HIDEOUS modern term for it is "Monetisation". If you don't want games that present you with these types of things either don't play them or try and find alternatives.

The latest HORROR in online advertising is that you HAVE to watch a video before being allowed to proceed to either the download or continue with what you are doing on the web site --expect this type of nastiness to creep into Free apps sooner rather than later.

Online advertising the old way is not effective - most people ignore popups or simply skip the add - however the latest techniques mean you can't proceed until you've watched the video -- and like most of these things it's usually accompanied by even MORE HIDEOUS "Music" too.

It only needs ONE sucker per 100,000 users to actually click the darn thing to make it highly profitable - that's why they do it. (Not even "Discrete" individual users -- but number of Game plays so a far smaller subset of users in real life actually).

    Cheers

I too get the notice in Tri Peaks and Pyramid, but not Solitaire. Originally that wasn't there but one of the updates to the app added that. I've tried other similar programs but the MS programs are the ones I like so I put up with the notices for the free version.

The only obvious, intelligent conclusion is the rest of your life, unless you make an alternative choice. You do have a choice yet, correct?

As some have already stated > Don't install it, buy the game, or use an alternative.

I get the feeling that some people think that MS should be different from other corporations > That they should continue to include free apps as they have in the past. Let's be fair about this whole matter. We all know that MS has "tightened their belt" so far as free stuff goes, just as many companies have. Times are tough. Many countries' economies aren't doing the best, so something has got to give. Just as with sliding tectonic plates, sooner or later there's going to be an earthquake. The "reimagined" MS has developed a system where they continue to deliver some free stuff, but inserting advertising to be able to do so, but, they also continue to deliver a choice. Yes?

BTW, not all the free Store apps included in 8/8.1 have ads. Mail, People, Calendar, Photos, and many more.

Another thing > I think the overall cost of 8/8.1 is more reasonably priced than past OSs.

I tried to find an alternative to Solitaire and came up with worse than the SPAM Microsoft includes. BTW, although I don't know for sure, I think that most of the "apps" in the store are built by other than Microsoft and are sold under the Microsoft name with a "commission" deducted from the proceeds.

I was a long-time beta tester for Microsoft, but when Steven Sinofsky took over the Windows group, most of us were "fired". He saw no need for testers other than corporate entities and developers. He pretty much eliminated "enthusiasts". Beginning with Windows 8, we were no longer invited to test until the public beta. Although not RTM, everything was set in stone and no changes would be made before final release to market. If any major bugs were found, they were left for SP1 and later.

Having said this, Microsoft has a history of not listening to its beta testers' concerns. We told MS that Vista wasn't ready for prime time (just as those before my beta testing time told MS that Windows ME wasn't ready). Neither Win ME nor Vista lived a long life; we started testing Windows 7 alpha on the heels of the Vista RTM. And yes, most early adopters realized Win 7 was, although not as buggy as Vista, still buggy. SP1, though, fixed most issues and what that didn't fix, SP2 did.

The final nail in the coffin was when Microsoft abandoned the old newsgroups (most here don't even know what they were) and went to this less than adequate forum system. And no, I'm not complaining about these forums; I'm very glad they're here, but I would be immensely pleased if I could at least tell if I've read everything in a particular thread (like I could in the old newsgroups).

OK, I've whined long enough . . . Microsoft stopped listening to me when I was "fired" along with a few thousand other beta testers out here in the wild. So, although I agree that Microsoft should be able to make a profit, I don't agree with their tactics at times.

This advice was given in a previous thread: Create a shortcut on your desktop that points to the SD card. Give it an obvious name (like "SD" in my case) and then move it to the root of C: (as in C:\SD) or somewhere else convenient. Then, add that location (the shortcut) to the library. Voila! It...
