World of Tanks error 0xc0000022

TL;DR because forums ate the previous thread I was trying to post

>Play WoT for 2.5 years on HP laptop, Win 7
>Breaks down, get new Acer laptop, Win 8 (major hardware upgrade, yay)
>Additional admin account set up for me, brother uses the original "owner" admin account
>My account doesn't have permission to run WoT (how does that even work, an admin is denied access and has to give permission to himself)
>Give permission to run WoT on my account through right click + properties (took a while to find that)
>Gives me error 0xc0000022 when trying to start through launcher
>Can still play on the owner account, but that is rather inconvenient

When he installed , did he get the option to 'install for all users' ?

option might be to uninstall on his account then re-install and see if that option appears.

Already tried that, never saw an "install for all users" option.

Does anybody around here happen to know what 0xc000022 even means?

It's a permissions error code...

Right, new patch arrived today, permissions were reset for my account. Applied permissions again to the marked apps again, still denied me access. Everything else already had permission. Access denied upon clicking start.

Searched for World of Tanks on the other profile, accessed the file that popped up in search, reapplied permission to that... but it's giving me 0xc0000022 instead of "access denied" again.

But for some reason, the search result looks different on my own profile- I get a generic looking file icon instead of the WoT logo. Does this say anything to you?

Found Solution, from Googling it.

Directions for win 7 From Toms Hardware: open a command Prompt as Admin, go to Start, All Programs, Accessories, right click on the Command Prompt and select Run as Admin, type sfc/scannow and hit enter, see if it goes away, if not do a clean boot and see if it goes away, if it does then you can enable hardware and find the problem.

Modified Directions For Windows 8: Go to Search and type command prompt then select command prompt and run as Administrator from the bottom of the page.

View attachment 27885 type sfc/scannow and hit enter, see if it goes away, if not do a clean boot and see if it goes away, if it does then you can enable hardware and find the problem.

Typed sfc/scannow, advised me to reset the computer. Upon doing that, it started configuring the computer (same thing was on the other profile a few days back, there had been a notification about an update in the bottom right corner some time in advance). Still getting the same error message.

So, uh, how do I do a "clean boot"?

<---- major computer noob right there.

Hi platypusbill,

Did you open an elevated command prompt to run the sfc /scannow (as previously suggested) and did you make sure to include the necessary space between the sfc and the /? The reason I ask is because I never saw that advisory to reset your computer; although, it may very well be valid. Anyway, if you decide to run it again, if errors are reported, try this procedure as you next step and see what happens:

Good luck to you.

Added another message earlier, not showing up... forums might have bugged out.

Anyway, how do I do a "clean boot" (the firststep didn't work out for me)?

Didn't include the space, will try again.

Here's the result of the command prompt, did I do it right?

EDIT: ah there should only be one space.

Now it's starting the scan.

No, you typed sfc / scannow. It should be sfc /scannow. I did make a mistake when I posted my response. Maybe you read it before I corrected it. Please try again. Sorry.

Yes I did that about 15 mins ago. This is what I got:

"Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.

Verification __% complete.

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in..."

It froze at 54% when I left to do other things for a while, possibly because the computer entered sleep mode. Rerunning it now to see what happens.

Nope, stopped at 54% again.

OK, just skip the sfc /scannow and type in the following command (same elevated command prompt):

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Restart your rig after completion and let's see what happens.

Too tired to deal with this now. I'll probably run it later tonight or tomorrow. Either way, I'll post the results and go from there.

Thanks for the help so far, though.
