Laptop Temperatures

hello everyone,
When my laptop is idle/basic tasks it is at 35-55C and when i play FIFA 13 its at 50-60C and when i play modern warfare 3 it is at 60-71C. the laptop is 1 month old. is this normal?

P.S its a Lenovo Y400 with I7 3730m and NVIDIA GeForce gt 750.

The TjMax on the CPU in your system is 105c , thats the max temp that it can reach before it will shut down to protect itself , you'll find that it'll throttle itself down at about 95c to try and not reach that max, it's a fairly meaty laptop so I'd expect temperatures of around that when you are running MW3.

If you are still worried , you can alway get a cooler pad for it to sit on.

Mine is an Acer AS8951G with i7-2670QM and a GeForce GT555M, and it tends to run rather warm when working hard as well.

So long as it stays under about 80 deg, you should be fine.

Ah, sorry for the delay.

Yeah these temps seem to be pretty average.

I'm not using a cooling pad, but the machine is elevated at the rear to aid air flow.

I've had a lot of laptops.

Yes this is normal for big games. Make sure it is off a blanket or pillow when you play so is has plenty of ventilation. What I like to use is a lapdesk, they're flat pads that you can use a mouse on and they give the laptop great ventilation.
