FSX Error

Hi
I just installed FSX Vanilla, works fine except when I start a flight, go to the map, set altitude at 10,000 and it goes for about 10-30 seconds roughly, and it crashes and comes up with the "Microsoft Flight Simulator Has Stopped working" message

The laptop model is an HP Envy m6
I had FSX on my other laptop which broke, an HP Envy Dv6, and exactly the same thing happens. It happens no matter where you fly or what plane, but my latest error I was flying a De Havilland Comet, above Charles-de-Gaulle Airport in Paris, France.
Haven't tried anything yet. I am new to FSX and Windows 8.

I am just thinking the program is old (2009) and maybe you should try the new one (2012) Microsoft Flight
