    Anyone here try "SimCity" yet?

I'm not a gamer at all, but many years ago (early 90's), I used to play the original SimCity and I really enjoyed it. I watched some videos of beta testers playing the newly released SimCity the other day and it looked like something I would enjoy. I understand all of the noise about the "always connected" requirement and that doesn't bother me. Anyone here try it yet?

I know you say that 'always connected' doesn't bother you, however any company who thinks they can force users to require an internet connection to use the product don't deserve a penny IMO.

NerdCubed summed it up quite well in his YouTube video:

I understand why some will not choose to buy the game, but I personally do not mind that "always connected" requirement because I realize why that is a requirement (maps, data stored on a remote server(s) and not on the user's PC. This reminds me of other games that require "multi player" mode or "online" mode. I don't play any other games at all and This game is unique enough for me to want to play it enough to live with the online requirement. I'm "always on" the Internet anyway...

The thing that bothers anyone about the always-on internet requirement is the Server sometimes full (all of them) and you cannot play while all servers are full.

Also, when the server upkeep costs exceeds EA's profit on the game the servers will be shut down and the game will be rendered unplayable.

read the ArsTechnica article. it's probably the most complete and well-balanced article that actually goes into the technical side as well:

The game is a big fail in my eyes, from what I heard about it. Plenty Info's which got spread by EA / Maxxis are simply not true. There was somewhere a review, where they showed you all this fake stuff and all the game-play issues, but I can't remember the link anymore.

I put about 6 hours into the game this past weekend and I thoroughly enjoyed the game play. It's fun, challenging and relaxing at the same time. Our son came over and showed me Borderlands 3, Need for Speed, Most Wanted and a few other games that he likes and then I showed him SimCity and let him play that a little and he really liked it. No shooting, blood and gore, or anything like that and I really enjoy it to relax in the evening. I played SimCity way back in 1988 and the essentials that I liked back then are still present. You don't have to be a civil engineer to play it and there are increasing levels of complexity to keep you challenged.

Overall, I'm very impressed with it and I'm glad I bought it...

I took the time to find the review I mentioned. I still wish you plenty of fun playing the game, but I think you should know about the issues of the game-play, even that there is the possibility that some of them get maybe fixed later on.
