    external drive

I have a wd external drive for my gaming. I have to uninstall some games on it. If I use windows control panel not all of the games are listed to uninstall. If I use the external drive where all the games are listed there is a delete option at the top of the screen. If I use the external drive to delete will the game be removed entirely ? Do I have to uninstall through the control panel and why aren't the games I have to uninstall showing.

I have some games that installed improperly. I want to remove them from the external drive and reinstall on the external drive. Originally the games were installed with a different operating system (vista).

    Thanks....

Games that were installed with Vista could possibly not run in Windows 8. You have to reinstall those. First delete the old Vista files.

Programs that did not install properly may not show in the control panel, here also I suggest 'manual action'.

I understand the games are not installed properly because of Vista. I do want to remove them from external drive to be able to reinstall correctly. Could you tell me what you mean by "manual action" Do I delete them through the external drive and forget about the control panel on windows 8 ? If I "delete" on external drive will they be entirely removed ?

As far as the Vista installed games go, they will be entirely removed by a simple file deletion. Those never saw Windows 8.

But if you have some that did not install correctly in Windows 8 and the installer quit on you, that's difficult to say because you do not know how far the installer got and what settings (e.g. registry and files) were already made inside the system. There you may have to scout a bit.

Your Unin-staller! + CCleaner should help you with removing all the left-overs from your system.

I know there is no such thing as a dumb question, but I have one that might come close. Can Windows 8 be installed on an external drive via a USB cable? I have an external drive that I use for backup. If it would work, I would create a new volume on it and install on that.
