Solved Getting W7 games to work in W8

There used to be a patch that enabled the Windows 7 stock games to work in W8. I'd say that was less than a year ago. It worked for my first W8 pc.

Microsoft.games.patcher.1.2-patch.exe

I just tried that on a new 64bit W8 install of mine and it didn't work this time.

Has anyone visited this?

Is there another work-around?

I love my Hearts and Spider Solitaire.

You have to gather the Microsoft Games folder, and the cardgames.dll (system32) from a 64bit W7.

After placing the MS Games folder in the 64bit W8's Program Files, you have to add the dll inside each of the card games sub-folders.

The patch exe will now work as advertised (making sure you have it in the root of the Games folder). Uncheck the backup box.
