Minecraft Will Not Start!

I recently installed Windows 8 Pro x64 on my custom gaming rig, went through all the usual driver installations including java. When I go to open Minecraft after installing everything and restarting, I notice that it will NOT start at ALL (Annoying!). It runs all of my steam games absolutely perfect. I have checked in device manager and the correct NVidia driver was selected. I have also tried opening it in compatability mode with no luck whatsoever!

ASUS P8P67 Evo B3 Motherboard

Thanks Guys :D

Are you using a shortcut to start minecraft if so try going directly to the file and running it from there, if the game won't launch at all with any error at all I have a feeling it's a problem with the shortcut. Try uninstalling the game and reinstalling it.

No assumptions, but is this a cracked version, or legit? If cracked, there's the problem. If not, then try reinstalling Java for 64Bit through Chrome. That worked for me :)

Like what the others have already said we can't help much without much to go on so provide us a error message or log. Check the event viewer?

Minecraft is a Java program so did you install the latest one from Java.com
Java Downloads for All Operating Systems
Last I heard was Java 7 Update 11 and also download both 32 and 64 bit Java.

Did you download the latest NVIDIA Drivers?
Drivers | GeForce
Last Check was NVIDIA 310.90 on Jan 5, 2013.

Since this program does not install normally have you tried delete the program by deleting .minecraft folder and redownloading using the minecraft.exe
https://minecraft.net/

C:\Users\maxknux\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft

Lastly, I have Windows 8 and works fine on it. Compatability Mode will not DO A SINGLE THING since it does not run on Windows OS. It runs on Java VM. The latest Java works fine on Windows 8.

I have tried everything suggested in this post, I have the exact same problem as this person, there is no error message, the process opens, it looks like its loading, but then it doesn't load, it appears in processes, but the program doesn't actually launch, Ive updated my java, gotten the new drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled, tried compatibility mode, I cant get anything to work, my OS is windows 8 64 bit version, and literally nothing that Ive done has made any difference, it just loads up into services, but the program doesn't actually load, and then it hangs up in services forever. If anyone knows how to solve this problem, please let us know.

@thebigbum243

There is not enough info in your System specs to figure out your graphics card but I will repost what I put in earlier post about Minecraft
The main problem is your graphics card is not providing you the support with driver. There is no reason for you to go into compatibility mode or services or anything with windows. It is either a Java issue or a driver issue. These are the two core components.

I have MineCraft and do not have the same problem as you. IT is NOT a Windows 8.1, Windows 7, MAC OS issue. Minecraft uses the Java VM OS.

1.The game is not depended on the OS you are using. so Don't Bother with compatibility mode since that will not help. The game does not use anything in Win32 or winrt or Direct X.

The game MineCraft depends on JAVA. So that means you should check if you have the latest version of Java from:
Java Downloads for All Operating Systems

Download both 32-bit and the 64 bit Java. The game should use the 64 bit one once installed.

2.The second thing Minecraft depends on is your Graphics driver specifically the Open GL. Open GL is not provided by Windows (Direct x is the interface to Graphics) so it is Graphic Card Manufacturer responsibility to provide that support in the driver. If you don't install the graphics driver from the manufacturer you run into a problem.

If you upgraded try uninstalling the driver and downloading a graphics driver specifically for Windows 8.1.
