What games can Windows 8 play?

I can also vouch for Steam. I am a user and their sales are crazy! They have them all the time and prices can be reduced by up to 80%! The offers are usually on every few days for a couple of games and then they also have big sales. Problem is you can accumulate so many games that you soon run out of time (and hdd space) to play them all! lol

You can also add non steam games to the steam programme, meaning if you have bought a boxed game or one from a different download provider you can add shortcuts in steam so that all your games are accessible in one place... it's a really handy feature.

What problems are you having? I have all of the Deus Ex series from Steam and have no problems with any of them. All work great on my Windows 8/64-bit system.

Skyrim works fine, it's the only game on my system at the moment might get Saints Row 4 soon... And yes love Steam I like the way you can make backups of your games so you don't have to download them again.

Not sure that'll work with the Steam based game, but if the above doesn't work you can check this post - What Games Are You Playing? - Page 94 - Windows 7 Help Forums

To be honest I'm not sure either suggestion will work either but it's worth a try. The issue is that Steam games are already patched to the latest upon download so trying to patch or change patch versions could prove to be challenging as Steam will usually try to "repair" a patch not matching the latest version it sees.

That's my guess as I've never tried or had to modify a Steam game to make it work. And my fix is for the retail version of the game.

Anyway before trying either fix I highly suggest you visit the game's forum on Steam first as they may have a solution for the Steam based game - Deus Ex series - Steam Users' Forums

    Good luck.

For those of you who may still have a MS classic, Freelancer. It will still play on Win 8. There is also a award winning mod for this, Discovery 4.86, which uses a virgin install of Freelancer as platform but installs as separate game and plays brilliantly. Addictive. And is open ended too!!
