Hi I've loaded and play Microsoft Solitaire through Xbox games but for some reason the icon has now disappeared from Metro So I downloaded mahjong which plays no problem but I can now access the xbox games section to see the games I have played and my achievements etc and MS Solitaire is there and I can click on the game which then starts to load but when it get to the options screen it crashes and goes back to the Metro screen. So I should think something is corrupted. So my question is this how do I uninstall solitaire to reinstall it when I haven't got an icon to click on?

right click on an empty spot on your start screen and go to all apps. if it's not on your all apps screen, you probably already deleted it. if you find the tile, you can right-click it and then choose the uninstall.

Hi Dirtyvu Thanks for reply. I did that but it's not there it must half-deleted. I also have a link in the "start" (I install Start8) but again when it arrives at the option screen it stays for a couple of seconds and then crashes.

you can't reinstall from the windows store? i don't know how start8 works and how reliable it is. I don't see a need for it.

can you temporarily remove start8 to see if that will allow you to delete the app?

Solution: I went into regedit and did a repeated search for "solitaire" and deleted every key folder that mentioned it (took quite a bit of time) and then any folders on the "C" drive that pertained to it. I then ran Mahjong, when the options/history page came up I was able to sign in to Xbox games up in the top right-hand corner then clicked on "Windows Games Store" clicked on Solitaire, clicked "Play" computer then had a look couldn't find any mention of the game and went to the Microsoft Store then comes up with a page all about the game with a line saying that I own this I was a bit flummoxed at this point of where to go but I clicked on the screen with the right-hand mouse button and from the top of the screen came a menu saying "Home" and "My account" click on "My account" it then shows the games you own I then clicked on Solitaire and a tick appeared on the picture when to the bottom of the screen and clicked "Install". Job done!

Hi!

I am having similar problems with the MS Solitaire Collection. When I got my new Win8 box, it wouldn't load. I futzed around with it a bit and managed to get it to work by not using the Xbox tile and creating my own tile. Didn't play for a week, then tried again tonight and it's dead in the water again. Tried your great suggestion above. Didn't find any refs to "solitaire" in regedit, but did find some folders living around C: so I deleted those. Just tried back at the Store again and it's still telling me the bloody thing is still installed. When I try to get it to "install" by clicking through other options first (eg, overview, etc.) it tries, but fails with Error 08x80240017. Any thoughts?

Truly appreciate your help!

Hi CarCar I'm afraid I can't help you with your problem if my little solution didn't work and I know how frustrating these problems can be. It may be wise to google that error message and see what the interweb can come up with. Terry
