Your expectations are completely different, and you know the answer to your own question. For me graphics are critical, this isn't 2002. I want the bleeding edge. I want DirectX 11. I want HBAO. I want contact shadows. I want tessellation. I want to play at over 50FPS, not locked to a pathetic 30FPS. I want high res texture packs and I want to pump up MSAA and AF. Same with mods. Consoles are too old and rubbish for me. For you, you want to compromise. Fine, I don't. I will spend at least $400 or so every 2yrs to upgrade my gaming system as that is the typical lifetime of a gaming GPU. You won't. You are satisfied and so am I. Simple.

With an Xbox 360, you have the Windows 8 integration as well as the SmartGlass app for Windows, Windows Phone, ios, or android. I tried it out the other day, not too shabby! You can control your Xbox with your phone, feels nicer than using the controller. The Kinect for me is WAY better than the Wii, and MUCH more active than the Wii. There is also Xbox exclusive games, which tick me off, such as Halo. That grinds my gears since Halo 1 and 2 were developed for the PC, and that was it. Nothing more from it.

The Dashboard of it looks nice, and fits with Windows 8 and Windows Phone. It completes an awesome ecosystem that just simply doesn't exist outside of it.

But then again, there is a new Xbox coming next November along with the Kinect 2, which will allow four players at once and possibly being able to use physical objects for interaction. Basically, the Wii U will be cool for a while, but then the Xbox will come and wear out that novelty. Better hardware in general.

Also, pricewise, it's not too expensive. And, you can have avatars! Love my little Xbox avatar! In the new Microsoft ecosystem, I can play an Xbox game for Windows Phone, carry that onto my Windows 8 PC, and then onto my Xbox if I so please and have all the achievements and points added from gaming on different devices. I can have stellar cross-platform connectivity, where each device was built for one another. I also can play music from Xbox Music on my Windows Phone in the car, continue listening to that playlist on a Windows 8 PC, and then continue it on my Xbox at home.

Pretty neat! But as usual, desktop PC gaming is still king. Nothing beats out a decent system graphically with a console. Some games were meant to be played on a PC, with graphical depth and immersiveness that slaps you in the face and captures you into the gameplay.

agreed, I used to be heavy into PC gaming, but I got tired of having to dump 400$ on a decent video card that can keep up with the games every two years.. yes xbox tech is old now, but the way its engineered to only play games it does a decent job..
is there any new news on the xbox 720?? curious what the specs are going to be

Of course, I totally understand. The OP asked what was good about the Xbox...not why is PC gaming so much better. And you are right, I have different expectations.

I wouldn't say that I want to compromise, but I think for the cost and such that the compromise is acceptable (to me). Also, keep in mind that I also game on my PC (I'm running a quad core, 8gb of RAM, an SSD, and a 1280MB GTX 570).

I guess that even though I know the compromises are there, i don't mind playing games on my console at all. I wish the load times were better, but that's all that I really complain about. I am playing Forza Horizon my 360 at it's awful 30fps and it's just fine. I'm planning on buying CoD Black Ops 2 for my 360 and I never once even considered getting it for my PC. To me, that IS a console game.
