External Hard Drive Refuses to Stay in Windows Explorer

So I have an interesting (maybe not) problem. I tried searching for a fix on here, but the issues seem to be different. I have a Western Digital Mybook external hard drive, that I use to hold my music and video files. It is formatted, working properly, and shows up in disk management. However whenever I turn on my computer it refuses to show up in Windows Explorer. I can unplug the USB connection and replug it in and it will show up, however if I close windows explorer and re-open it the hard drive will no longer come up under "computer". I can access the folder through an icon I created on the start page, and I can play the files in iTunes, it just refuses to show up in Windows Explorer. This is driving me crazy, any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Have you tried plugging the drive into a non-partisan, third party PC if available?

And did work before correctly in a previous Windows OS?

Is the little indicator light blinking?

Is the drive and/or files somehow hidden?

There are a LOT of different reasons as to why an external hard drive isn't working properly, more details are a must.
