Hello everyone,

This is embarrassing, but I really need your help.

I had my laptop for years, but as strange as it is I had never used a bluetooth device on it, so I remember that I uninstalled or disabled bluetooth because I thought if I don't need it it just makes the laptop (Toshiba Satellite P840) slower (it started to be sluggish about a year ago).

Well, today I bought some bluetooth headphones and I tried to reinstall the driver but it just won't do it, so obviously the bluetooth option is greyed out and I cannot turn it on.

The Windows service is fine. I had disabled it too, but not I re-enabled it and it starts fine. I also reinstalled the wireless LAN driver, just in case, It reinstalled fine. But the real bluetooth installation just won't start and now in device manager there is an "unknown device".

Please advise.

These are supposed to be the drivers for my laptop: Support :: Toshiba :: Laptops/Notebooks, Storage & Accessories Or also here: Toshiba Satellite P840 Laptop Windows 7, Windows 8.1 Drivers, Applications, Updates | Notebook Driver & Software

Maybe something is conflicting with it?

Thank you!

Paul

Well, I solved part of the problem by updating Windows... But it doesn't seem to find my device, although "Allow Bluetooth devices to find this PC" is ticked... My tablet found it fine, so the headphones work...

Ok, I didn't know that you can only connect one device at a time. The headphones were still connected to the tablet, and after I disconnected them from the tablet they now work on my PC. :) I thought it was like wireless, that can be used on multiple devices...
