Under Windows 8.1 the printing and scanning functionality of an already installed and previously working Brother MFC-J6520DW multi-function printer. In order to restore the printing and scanning functionality it was necessary to use the Brother Utilities tool to completely uninstall the printer removing the drivers.
The latest full installer package (MFC-J6520DW-inst-B2-EU1.EXE) was downloaded from the Brother UK website and the installer was run successfully to restore the printing and scanning functionality.

However, the printer icon for the Brother MFC-J6520DW device only displays the default printer icon instead of the icon originally displayed. All the requirements to allow the installed printer icon to be displayed appear to be configured correctly. However, no related folder exists under C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\DeviceMetadataCache\dmrccache\en-us for that printer.

The other identical computer on the network with that printer installed and displaying its icon correctly under Devices and Printers does have a folder relating to the printer under C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\DeviceMetadataCache\dmrccache\en-us named 62e365a8-5f66-42db-97ea-efa298aeac2c.

Copying that folder to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\DeviceMetadataCache\dmrccache\en-us on the problem computer and restarting it has failed to resolve the issue possibly because there is no reference in the registry to link to the folder contents containing the printer icon.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
