Greetings. I've used re-filled cartridges for my inkjet and laser printers for many years without problem. Recently, with my 3 (or 4) years-old Samsung Express M2020W laser printer (which I love and still works beautifully) I've been getting the following nag screen after using a re-filled cartridge longer than it likes:

You have used this toner cartridge approximately 293% longer than its recommended life cycle. For more information regarding the recommended life cycle, please refer to the Supplies Info page.

Continuing to use this toner cartridge after its recommended life cycle may bring deterioration in the printing quality and cause problems such as leakage of toner particles, or other defects.

To prevent this, Samsung Electronics provides a product protection function. This function stops your printer from operating when it detects a toner cartridge that has exceeded its recommended life cycle.

When this function is used, you must replace the expired toner cartridges to a new cartridge to continue printing.
We recommend that you use genuine Samsung toner cartridge because some non-genuine Samsung toner cartridges such as refilled or remanufactured toner have exceeded their recommended life cycles. Using such toner cartridges may limit your warranty, and certain warranty services may not be performed on products that have used such toner cartridges.

Would you like to use the product protection function?

(If you choose not to activate the product protection function, you will still receive notifications on a regular basis. Further, you may choose to provide Samsung with device information and information regarding the life cycle of the toner cartridge (Printer model name, serial number, installation date, toner usage level and supplier ID). This information will be used as data to help Samsung provide better user environment. Under no circumstances shall we collect any information other than the information listed above.)

( ) Yes I would like to use the product protection function (the printer will stop operating immediately)
( ) No, I would not like to use the product protection function
[ ] I have read the above and agree to the collection of the information described above.

As you can see, there's no "Don't bother me anymore with this" option listed. Does anyone know if there's a way to permanently deactivate this prompt? I used Google and I couldn't find even one forum topic of this "product protection function" anywhere... probably because most people are not as penny-pinching as I am with printers. :p

I have no problem continuing to click "No" for the rest of the life of the product, so this is not a critical issue. So if no one can help me with this (assuming there's a solution), that's no biggie... STILL, it would be nice if I could remove the nag screen for good. :)

Regards,

Ed.
