Recently, out of nowhere my mouse started to disconnect (sometimes reconnects automatically, sometimes you need to plug it out/in in order to work), freeze. I've done everything that I could imagine to resolve whatever issue it might be, maybe you guys came across something similar?

What I've done already:
  • Uninstalling drivers, rebooting computer
  • Updating drivers, installing windows updates
  • Rewriting Windows
  • Turning Off OS ability to power down USB devices in order to save energy

Worth to mention:
- Mouse is working on another laptop, no issues at all.
- Before reinstalling windows Mouse wheel click didn't work, after reinstalling it works, but mouse still freezes.
- PC has 3 USB ports, all of them have the same issue.
- Sometimes after mouse disconnects "Unknown device" message appears, but in Device manager list there are no Unknown devices

Other info:
Mouse - Mad Catz R.A.T. 3
OS - Windows 8.1
Video card - Nvidia GTX 960M
RAM - 8 GB

It may be because your computer is automatically turning off the power to a USB Root Hub.

Go to your Control Panel > System > Hardware tab > and click on the "Device Manager" button.
In the Device Manager window, find the item or items labeled "Universal Serial Bus controllers." Open it, and double-click the first item called "USB Root Hub."
In the USB Root Hub Properties dialog, click on the "Power Management" tab.
"Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is checked by default. Uncheck this box, and click "OK."

Hope it helps.

Thanks for the response, but I've already tried this solution, no luck.
