So I finished letting windows update install a-hundred-and-some-odd updates and it prompted me to restart my laptop.
When I did so,it gave me this(the others are where they are supposed to be):

I tried to open it and it gave me this::(

when clicking on continue(I have admin perms) it gave me this::(

I clicked on the security tab link and it gave me this::(

which as you can see does not have a security tab.:(

I checked disk management to see if it was a new partition, but it was not.
I checked network/shared folders and it is not being shared.
I tried opening/installing local group policy to try and force gain permission to open it,but as i have 8.1 core, i just kept on hitting error messages.
Then I gave up, made an account here and am now asking for help.
Windows update made a drive out of thin air.
How can you open this, then remove it,then prevent it ever happening again?

Welcome to the forum. It's seems to be the normal system reserved partition that windows boots to the size and files seem right. You don't want to or mess with it as it contains all the boot files so it will stop you booting if you mess. Normally it doesn't have a drive letter

How do I unmap this drive from G:\ ???
I really need G:\ to be an open drive letter.

I use Windows 7, however, I believe Windows 8 also has a disk management, which should allow to "un-drive-letter" that partition.
