Few weeks ago, i noticed my laptop battery was 23% remaining and it shut off like it had no power. i pressed the power button and it wouldn't start. In power plan settings i have 10% low level battery, 5% critical battery level and 7% reserve level with notification on, but i dont get notification before laptop shuts off. It's like the power's cut.
Yesterday same thing happened but it happened alot sooner at around 41%. i pressed power button, it didn't start.
any suggestion? thanks

Sadly, you told us nothing about your notebook, including how old it is.

This could certainly be the battery simply getting old. But it could be a calibration problem - where the notebook's battery monitoring/charging program is not calibrated with the battery. Look in your owners manual and it should tell you how to calibrate the battery. If you don't have your manual, you should be able to download a copy through your notebook's webpage.

Some makers even provide a program to calibrate the batteries on the utilities disk that came with the notebook, or on their website. I recommend you check there first.

If none, then see these How-To Geek instructions: How to Calibrate your Laptop's Battery.

If recalibrating does not help, it may be time to replace the battery.
