I have installed Windows 8 Release Preview for a month. I installed this OS normally without any problem during installation and I used hardwares normally. I But now, my mouse, keyboard and all USB plugins don't work. When I start my computer, the light on my keyboard turn on and then off when Windows is starting. I have tried many solutions but they don't work. My internet connection plugin works well and my computer still update news from Sport App. What should I do now?:sarc::sarc:
I'm using a desktop computer with Intel Pentium D 3.00GHZ processor. Before I install Win 8 Released Preview, I used Windows 8 Comsumer Preview and no problem happened.:geek:

I'm not trying to high jack the thread but I am having similar issue's;

From sleep my mouse wakes the system after which the mouse and keyboard (logitech MX 5500 revolution) seem to loose their connection with the transmitter, however if I shut down the computer upon reboot they both respond correctly.

I am running Win8 Pro 64bit, I have exhausted the following options;
Checked all power management options from disabling turn off at sleep for mouse and keyboard as well the USB ports.

Uploaded the new drivers and software from logitech, when this failed I contacted logitech support and they went over all I had already done and said it was an OS issue.

Next I contact Gigabyte support (GA-z87X-UD4H)we uploaded the current drivers to no avail, they said since they don't have the keyboard and they would not be any further help.

It has been suggested that I buy a new keyboard and mouse combo but I have also seen issue's with a PS2 keyboard upon wakeup as well and had no issues with Vista till MOBO died and was replaced at which time added a new HDD and clean install of Win8. My concern is I will still have the same issue with a new setup.

Hoping someone has had or knows of this issue and knows of the fix so far I've been impressed with the new OS and would like to get this small bump in the road smoothed out.

Thanks,
Robb

Hello Robb,

This happens with my Logitech MX 5500 Revolution keyboard/mouse combo every once in a while as well. Usually all I have to do is disconnect and reconnect it's wireless USB stick to have it work properly again without having to do anything else though.

Believe I found my issue

Found this posting on Logitech website;
Hello guys,

This is most likely a Windows USB selective sleep problem.
The simply way is to unplug and re-plug in the MX5500 USB receiver.
Check this out:

  1. Go to Device Manager > Universal Serial Bus Controllers > Generic USB Hub
  2. Right click on the Generic USB Hub, and select Properties > Details tab > Hardware IDs and look for VID_046D&PID_0B06 which is the MX5500 USB receiver
  3. Once you have detect it, go to "Power Management" and uncheck the "Allow the computer to turn off this devices to save power"

This seems to have resolved my issue, hope this helps someone else out. I actually missed this Hub when I checked it the first time as it didn't show up after sleep when I checking with a PS2 set up and thanks Brink for your reply.
