I cannot transfer files to my pc via bluetooth

    Hello
I cannot transfer files from my phone to my laptop via bluetooth. I have the latest drivers installed.
    How do I fix this?

Did you check the settings for Bluetooth on your phone? You may have to be explicitly allow file transfer there and maybe even on the laptop as well.

When you say you can't transfer files what does that mean? Is is that you don't know how or that you setup the transfer but it never happens? Do you get an error?

The easiest way to transfer files from your phone to your PC is by simply connecting it through USB. You then should see it as a USB device and access photos, music etc. You can also synchronise your photos through OneDrive and then download them on your Windows 8.1 machine.

Since the error you are getting states "device or computer cannot process files of this type", what type of files are you trying to transfer? Have you tried only that type of file or do you get the same error on every file type you try? Are you trying to copy more than 1 file at a time or just a single file?

For me personally, I use DropBox. I just need to copy whatever file(s) I want to transfer from my phone to DropBox, then it takes care of transferring those files to my PC automatically. I can even have the files transferred to multiple PCs. Can also transfer easily from the PC to phone.

I found the solution,. In Windows 8 you have to click "receive files" before sending a file to the pc.

As far as I know, you have to do that regardless of which OS you're using.

It never used to be like that on Windows years ago, I remember. Before a balloon would pop up asking you if you want to accept the file.

I've only used Bluetooth file transfer a few times as I feel there are plenty of other alternatives that are easier to use (faster as well). I like and use Bluetooth for lots of things such as mice, keyboard, speakers, headphones, GPS, etc... but not so much file transfer.
