Hi. I've tried to turn off bluetooth, but i don't think I've done it yet. The light beside the bluetooth icon is alight, which probably mean it's still on(?)

I search for bluetooth settings, and find the icon, but when i click it, nothing happens. In pc settings, and network settings there is no option to turn on or off bluetooth.

I have windows 8.1.

I may have done something to disable this option or whatever earlier, but i don't remember. But i did do something earlier where i thought i had turned it off.

I suppose I could add that even if i turn off wifi, it's still lit.

That's interesting that it doesn't show an option to turn off the Bluetooth. If you look at your laptop, there should either be a hard switch or a fn + key combo to disable it. Have you tried this?

What is the make/model of your computer? Is it a laptop? Many laptops have a FN key designated that can be used to turn wifi and/or Bluetooth on/off. You should be able to disable Bluetooth in Device Manager.

I don't know what model. Could it be msi gp 70?

Can't find any bluetooth buttons on my keyboard.

I found bluetooth in my device manager now. I right clicked the computer, and there it was. It says it's deactivated, but the light is still on.

bluetooth won't die

I uninstalled bluetooth, but the light that shows that bluetooth is on is still glowing. What's the deal?

Okay, i checked units and drivers now, and bluetooth is still there, and under it it says "generic bluetooth adapter", "microsoft bluetooth enumerator", "microsoft bluetooth le enumerator."

I uninstalled all of them, and the light went off, then restarted, and the light was back on and the three bluetooth things that I'd just uninstalled were back.

That's one of the things that annoys me about seemingly every MS OS since XP. In order to shut one thing down, you have to go through twelve different menus and options.

What I would suggest is going through your Task Scheduler and look for all instances of Bluetooth and make sure that you go into Services via Task Manager and disable the Bluetooth startup programs there as well. Look through the Services program list and read the descriptions in case any of those programs are initializing Bluetooth.

I would also suggest, while the light is on, use another device and see if you are able to see the computer on a Bluetooth Network Device List. The light may be on, signifying that power is flowing through it although it is not operational because the software is not running.
