Hello
I have a samsung slate 7 with windows 8 RP. I am having facing a lot of problems connecting to bt devices and intermittent connections and drop outs.
Sometimes it works just fine and some times it just wont connect.

I have a broadcom chipset with the windows 7 drivers. I have tried installing them and reinstalling in various modes of compatibly but it just wont be stable.

Any one else with similar issues?

thanks
sal

Welcome to EightForums salars

Have you check the website for latest version of bluetooth driver? Better if they will have the compatibility for Win8 OS.

Have you tried the Samsung page at http://www.samsung.com/global/windowspreview/? I had luck following the instructions posted there.

I've only tried Bluetooth with the optional keyboard. I couldn't get it to pair at first. I had checked an option in the Control Panel allowing the slate to be discovered by other devices. Once I cleared the check box (default setting), the keyboard paired right away.

But your issue is w/ Bluetooth devices dropping out. Try the above Samsung page if you haven't yet.

Towards the bottom of that page, there is a group of links. The first one is http://www.samsung.com/global/windo...eries_7_Slate_Windows_8_Consumer_Preview2.pdf, which is a PDF doc. Go to STEP #7 on page 6. There is a small screenshot of the download page of their website. It shows the Bluetooth driver just above the Chipset driver. While they are labeled Windows 7, they ARE the proper drivers for Windows 8.

The Slate was the official device given (sold) to those who attended the BUILD conference in Anaheim last September, specially setup for Windows 8. The PDF doc referenced above, is the HOW TO guide, for setting up the Slate for Windows 8 CP. Samsung hasn't updated it for for Windows 8 RP, but it still works.

Go through the PDF doc and try to follow the steps. It starts out by prepping the boot firmware while Windows 7 is still installed. I skipped over that part, because I put Windows 8 64 RP on a USB flash drive from the ISO and had no problems booting. So I started at STEP #6.

Also the above assumes you're installing the 64 bit version.

Bottom line: Samsung doesn't have any drivers labeled as Windows 8 yet, but sanctions the Windows 7 drivers. Hope this helps. This may or may not help your Bluetooth issue, but at least it points you to the right drivers.

Are u able to turn blue tooth off from the wireless screen? I can see the bt switch but it won't turn off. I have checked the button saying allow windows to turn off device too.

These are the considerations to take if we have installed some of the driver that might not functionally work as the same with Win7.
But still you have the driver for the bluetooth.

I completely understand just checking to see if others face the same issue.
1. unreliable bt connection even with the upto date drivers
2. unable to turn off bt

Yes, this are based on my observation while installing drivers for others might crash in the long run, others might work but not permanent and some might install but it isn't reliable.
As long as the OS run well I don't install drivers at the same time and not to repeat the same error.

Ok. Windows 8 now. The devices all link up correctly however the Bluetooth radio does not still turn off.
I Installed Broadcom 270 drivers separately but they did not enable the toggle switch. Any one with a Samsung slate with this issue ??
