I just installed a new ssd drive and Win 8 on my Lenovo S405 laptop. Everything works but Windows will not recognize the Synaptics touch pad on my laptop as a Synaptics pad but only as a generic PS/2 mouse. So I can't use scroll and other functions.
I tried updating the driver through Windows and it just insists that the best driver is already loaded.
I tried installing the correct 64-bit Windows 8 driver for my laptop directly from Lenovo and I get a message that says "No appropriate driver to be installed."
I know this is a problem with Windows and not the touchpad itself because when I put my old hard drive back in ... the touchpad and Synaptics software work exactly as they are supposed to.
This is driving me crazy. Please advise.
