    VERY peculiar USB firmware(?) problem.

Well, I've had this computer since august, and no problems like this. On the 20th, my keyboard and mouse, along with all the other USB devices were unresponsive in Windows. Now, it is NOT a hardware problem. Of this, I am certain. All USB devices work fine without fault in the BIOS and in the recovery options. Now, I tried to do system restore to the 18th, even though no programs would be affected. So, no change. Then after a while, I restored to the 12th, the affected programs were:

    Google Chrome (Update)
    GIMP
    nVidia G-Sync Pendulum Demo

Windows utilised all USB devices fine. I could login and enter passwords, you know, all that keyboard-y stuff.

So, GIMP and the demo were just uninstalled. But the Chrome obviously stayed. Now, when I tried plugging my iPhone into my PC (today), my keyboard and mouse suddenly stopped working. The computer made weird sounds too, like the device kept connecting and disconnecting. A restore to the same day (26th) @ ~4:30 GMT -00 solved the problem. I'm not really sure how it put a recovery point here, as the PC was asleep at this time, but whatever. But it was the same version of chrome that was being uninstalled in the restore that fixed the problem, I'm fairly sure.

Now, obviously, frequently doing system restore is not an appropriate solution to the problem. I can't remember the version of chrome that was in the restore window (it was about 12 characters long), but if you could direct me to a log in windows if it exists where the affected programs are listed, then I could probably get the offending version. But I still struggle to see how Chrome can mess with my USB devices.

I've already contacted Microsoft support, they were "a great help", so I trust that you guys know a lot more and have a lot more experience. I'm really at my wits end with this problem. I've disabled XHCI and even EHCI in the BIOS to see if that would help. It doesn't.

So, anyone have any clue for a solution?

Download Chrome from their website. https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95346?hl=en

Maybe the latest update/version via automatic download somehow was corrupted.
And a clean install will solve your problem.

Sorry for the late response. I don't think Chrome has anything to do with it anymore, the last system restore I did didn't change chrome. Do you know what SECOH-QAD.exe and SECOH-QAD.dll do? Because McAfee keeps saying that there is a PUP in there, and I try to remove it, but it just stays there. You have any clue what that means? And if it has anything to do with my problem? And I have used KMSPico, this is one of many computers that I own.

try running eset and hitman pro..

Free Virus Scan | ESET Online Scanner | ESET

read through all the options and make sure "memory" is checked to search and stealth mode enabled etc..

    then also run HITman Pro
