All USB ports not working. Suspected USB driver issues

    Hi guys,

Yesterday I realized that none of my USB ports were working. The last known date they were working was the 9th of December.

My laptop is an MSI GE62 2QL , running on Windows 8.1 64-bit.

Here are some screenshots from Device Manager. I've tried updating the driver software, automatically and manually. I have also tried finding the drivers from Intel's website but I couldn't find anything that worked, or wasn't looking in the right place.

    Updating Automatically:

Similar result for the other two.

    Updating Manually searching through C:\

I'm currently trying the drivers that MSI provides, but im not sure which one I need. Will update if situation improves.

    MSI Global 64

Any help at all would be appreciated. Thanks

You must be installing the wrong driver.. Try this too in case

Chipset, Intel Rapid Storage technology, Intel Management Engine. From MSI, in the order listed, not from MS Windows or Intel.
It appears to have refused those as manufacturers sometimes mod drivers for hardware in a particular Laptop.
If it has a MSI updater, use that.

I guess my next motherboard might be an intel motherboard..

modding things to force one-way is no different than Apple forcing you to use Itunes and only use their devices their way and not "your" way..

just try transferring a custom movie or custom song into your ipod/ipad/iphone and good luck the holes you'll have to dive through if you know what I mean....

so not being able to install the standard intel drivers which are updated to the latest and actually intel is a good company, doesn't seem like such a great thing to me..

but alas... the point is yes, maybe MSI forces you to install their drivers..

You may wanna read on Rapid Storage before you go installing that.. or even google Rapid Storage problems in google etc..

I've tried as you've suggested Helmut, but then ran into this.

Opening the file log location opens a window with these four files:

Tried to download the .net Framework 4.5 from Microsoft and well...shit. I don't know what to do about the Rapid storage technology.

ha.. well what happened to installing the MSI drivers on your exact model of your computer??

You need to read about what Rapid Storage is before installing it... in short, it used your ram to try to make your computer faster.. but in doing so, can cause conflicts and errors which in my opinion aren't researched enough.. It's just a wanna-be overclocking thing intel decided to try out..
It does work for some.. but in general causes too many errors for others..

the funny thing is that the error you are getting is just you haven't installed Framework.. you can go to microsoft website and download that no problem and install it..

but seriously type in google "problems rapid storage" watch what comes up..

try installing the driver from MSI...

You also need to join the MSI forum of your actual computer and post it there.. because I'm sure they've already been through this..

I did that before starting the thread here. No replies so far and seems to be only one other person who has a similar issue to mine.
