My problem is with "Automatic Updates". I have to turn off my tablet when I leave work, but the tablet wants to update and I'm instructed not to shut down until complete. as I can't wait, I put the tab away and when I log in the next morning, I'm instructed to wait as updates were not complete and those that were during the process are now being removed. how can I disable the "Automatic Updates"? Thanks,
Tom

goto setting and search for automatic update

1. never update
2. trun off update .etc

You are right.
Surface RT users do not have the options as described to you.
However, there is a Hide option.
When you view the update, you can hide it by a long press at the update, then tap Hide update.

What does hiding the update accomplish?
Thanks, Tom

Hiding makes Windows Update ignore the update. If Win RT had the ability to turn off Automatic Updates, you would still get nagged to do the update.

If you later decide you want to install the hidden update you will need to unhide it. Maybe davidhk can explain how to unhide a hidden update using Win RT.
