My son turned my pc off and now when i boot it won't get passed the bios logo screen (asus sabertooth 990fx) and the boot check led status lit on the mobo. If i detach the ssd i can not to a recovery drive and then reattach the ssd to try and fix it but nothing I've tried so far has worked -

Bootrec fixmbr success
Fixboot success
rebuilbcd shows c:windows as there but then says system device not found.

What does this mean?

WELL, you didn't say what SSD you have. BAD!
But, it sounds like you had the same experience that I had a few months back, when my three month old PNY SSD decided one day that it didn't want to work anymore. I called PNY, from whom I bought the drive, but they would not do anything without the original invoice. So I was stuck, with a worthless piece of crap that I could do nothing with.
I got right on my backup drive, pulled up Amazon.com and ordered a new "SanDisk, 128GB, SSD" and requested two day delivery.

Now it's several months later and my SanDisk SSD is still working like a champ. It came with the SanDisk Dashboard, which includes the "Trim" program to keep the SSD in top shape.

Sounds like you need a new SSD. I strongly recommend a "SanDisk" SSD.

Good Luck, and Happy Holidays!
