USB disk drive fails to start with system.

I have a WD external drive that fails to start with my system most the time. I can reconnect the device and it connects and stays connected until the next system boot. I have reinstalled the driver with no luck. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

The first this I would do is check the HDD health using WD DLG -Support Answers. If the health is good then it's most probably a problem with thedrivers. Try looking for the latest chipset drivers from the chipsetmanufacturer web site. Keep me posted.

The drive passed both tests. The chipsets supposedly have the latest drivers. I will keep looking.
