Solved finger/ pen touch does not work

I got a brand new 8" windows 8.1 tablet yesterday. Today I decided to get a touch pen because the text is too small for me to finger pick and cannot be altered as far as I am aware.
So I decided to calibrate the touch and ever since (I am not sure whether the thing finished or not) I cannot even log in using finger or pen. I therefore cannot reset anything because I cannot get to the applications. There is no tablet reset button.

Do I take it back and ask for another one or inform Windows of the problem and ask that organisation to fix/refund? Or does anyone here know how I can get back?

I could not get passed log onscreen to reset because no touch - but I forgot about using the old micro mouse .Worked after turning on 'on screen keyboard.' Reset done!
