Several times during the day my Internet connections slow down lot(1-2 times) and few times goes down(around every 2-3 days).... I had this modem replaced under warranty when it was not working entirely.. I want to troubleshoot the Modem and DSL Line separately to find the exact issue..... Is there a software or Free tool to perform this task? :)

Kind of hard since one depends on the other to work, the modem needs the line and kinda hard to test the line without the modem. Why not have your provider test it? And DSL speed is subject to how much loading is on your leg of the system at any given time so slowdowns are pretty much a normal occurrence.

About all you can really do is run speed tests from a place like Testmy.net then report the results to your DSL provider to try to get them to fix it.

The only way normal users can test the modem is to swap in another modem and see if it works.

As popeye noted, your ISP can test your lines.

You need to read your contract with your ISP carefully and see what it says for bandwidth they are expected to provide. Hopefully it does not say "up to" x amount.

I agree to test your speeds too. Testmy.net is good. I also like Speedtest.net. I recommend using both. Note for some reason, Testmy.net always shows slightly better times for me than Speedtest.net as seen below:

That said, I pay for 50 down and 6 up so I am not complaining.
