I have a HP Deskjet 2540 all in one, and I have used it both by sub cable and wirelessly for ages.

For whatever reason lately, I have lost the network connection, so when I go to print, and the window appears showing my 2540 -series, it also used to show the network choice.

I have been on to the HP support forum, and as always when you have a problem, it seems the whole world has the same problem. Anyway, I did what a lot of the members suggested, even went into the "ports" area, all to no avail.

What might give you a clue, is that when I am asked for my BB network name or/and password, I carefully enter the two items as they are on the router, but it's rejected.

In the meantime, I carry my laptop to the printer to print, so any good advice is welcome.

My laptop is a HP Pavillion and w8.

Do a search for your printer in the support area for hp.com. You will be able to find the quick install guide and user's guide. Also when it ask about connecting to a wireless network. It is asking for the SSID & Passphrase for the wireless connection. Some of the older HP wireless printers, could only be set up via USB.

Hi what you need to do is uninstall it completely from your laptop via control panel programs and feathers let computer shut down and restart.
Should of had a disc come with it insert disc and let it reinstall the operation system it will then ask you do you want to use lead or wireless click wireless and follow instruction windows will try and install its own drivers once it has finished and you have reactivated it will say drivers out of date click on update drivers let it scan and you should find it will update the hp drivers if when you go to use it you there is 2 versions of your printer showing delete the one showing your printer in small letters. you should the find you can scan and print ok

Hi There

I have done all you say to no avail.

did uninstall, loaded up my set up cd.

the biggest puzzle for me, is the fact, I can do wireless print using my iPad, which to me, proves that the printer is configured correctly, it's to do with the laptop set up some way.

You can only print to the printer with the iPad if the printer allows for Airprint. Otherwise you have to use a Print Server that Lantronix sells, which runs $199.95. At that price, you could go out and get a decent Laser printer that does Airprint and Google Cloud Printing.

You may be able to still find the Home version of the Xprint, which is cheaper than the Enterprise version that Lantronix sells. Startech makes one that sells on Amazon for $73. Amazon.com: StarTech.com 1-Port USB Wireless iPad Network Print Server (PM1115UA): Computers & Accessories

It used to be that you could use a hack with Windows, so that you could use a "Man in the middle" software between Windows Print Server and Bonjour. Apple has quickly stopped that from happening, since they consider it as hack for Bonjour & iTunes. I have done it with Linux, which you could actually use a Raspberry Pi to work as a Airprint Print Server.

This is the info on how to setup a Raspberry Pi for a Airprint Server. I am sure you can also use it as a Google Cloud Print server. Cheapest way to go. Add AirPrint Support To Your Raspberry Pi Print Server This is the up to date info on how to set up a Raspberry Pi for Google Cloud print. https://matthew.mceachen.us/blog/ad...r-older-printer-with-a-raspberry-pi-1342.html

Look at this as a project like we used to do back in the Homebrew Computer Club days. The Lantronix Print server is really nothing more than a Raspberry Pi inside of the case with the firmware/OS on a PRAM.

Sorry. Yes I can read. As stated before, you need to follow what was stated on the first reply.

I have no physical access to your computer. It is all on you to do the work to make your laptop work.
