Pendrive with physical write protect switch

Hi guys,

Are you aware of any pendrives equipped with a physical (mechanical) write-protect switch?

I used to have an old Phillips drive with that feature but it recently died. I need it as I qute often port files to other machines outside our corporate network.

I'm familiar with Kanguru thumb drives but I'm looking for expanding the choice a bit.

That feature has not been around for a long time. The only way to do it is by setting the Security permissions for the drive, which can always be circumvented with Linux.

Thanks broe23! I'm aware of what you're saying but I want a convenient solution since I need to repeatedly copy data to and from the stick. The principal reason for this is my stick gets connected to lot of computers and some of them are not virus-free :( That's why I want to set the write protection on whenever I connect to external device but set it off each time I connect it to my own machine.

As a result software solutions are not too convenient - simple mechanical switch is far better!

The only other thing is to contact CDW and see if they have the ones that you can get with the external switch. But again, anyone can accidentally move the switch and write to it.

Well, I've finally decided to go for one of Kanguru products, as the only other available was Trekstor but this one has USB 2.0 interface.

Suprisingly a lot of China noname stuff with switches is available, but somehow I don't trust it... ;)
