Text on Windows 8 Tablet appears distorted and missing

I have an Asus Windows 8 tablet pc and for a few days now the text on the screen appears messed up on certain apps but okay on others. I'm not sure if this is a hardware problem or something that can be fixed. I tried doing a hard reset but that didn't take care of the problem.

Perhaps a font got corrupted. Do you have a restore point from just before the problem? If so, that is likely the easiest fix. If not I would try to find out what font the program with the garbage text is using.

Well I did a complete system reset - shouldn't that re-install everything?

When you said "hard reset" to me that is the same as a cold boot or cycling the power.
If things were good and changed but were not fixed when you reinstalled then that would indicate to me that either it is not a software problem, or you have an infection. It could hide someplace that reloading the system does not overwrite.

I would start with a complete scan using MBAM



If you have tried other fixes please list what you have done so far.
