    Boot Crash Loop

    Hi

    I'm pretty sure it's hardware related and suspect the motherboard. But maybe someone else run into the same problem already and found the culprit for this problem.
    Here what it does:
    HP Pavilion laptop keeps crashing during boot, no matter if booting from hard drive, DVD drive or USB drive. I can access the UEFI without any problem, but as soon the laptop boots from any source, it keeps crashing and booting until I shut it down with the power button.

    Are you doing a UEFI boot or a legacy boot?

    What are you boot settings in the UEFI?

    Have you tried to do a memory check?
    Does the laptop have a built-in diagnostic option? (I've seen HPs with pre-boot diagnostic firmware)

    Have you tried reseating your RAM modules, or trying each one individually (if you have more than one)?

    @hydranix
    Thanks for reply. It's not a boot option issue, I've tried legacy boot with DVD and USB. Both time it booted a couple seconds and then crashed. I've tried build in diagnostic tests and System Restore (F2 and F11). Everything started normal and crashed after a couple seconds and rebooted the laptop automaticly. And yes, I tried different RAMs in both slots. Interestingly the second slot acted different. Instead of booting everything was blank and hang there. So I suspect defective RAM slots. But maybe somebody else came across something different.

    Oh wait, why didn't it occur to me sooner!

    Is the thing overheating? Maybe the heatsink has detached from the CPU and its heating up once you begin to boot.

    Does the BIOS offer a temperature reading?

    I don't think it's overheating, because I can spend enough time in the BIOS without crashing.

    Perhaps its bad RAM then.

    I'd try to perform a memtest. Try downloading memtest from here.

    Can't run memtest, because it crashes when I boot from CD or USB.

    Did you actually try it? Memtest programs are very small so they're very unlikely to reside in bad areas of ram.
