I have a windows 8.1 tablet.
It does recognize my home wifi 99 out of 100 times... and when it does, it says it cannot connect or says limited access. It recognizes wifi from all the houses in the neighborhood though. I can connect to my home wifi through any other devices however. Please help. Thank you

thanks for answering

I have restarted the tablet many times. Troubleshooting doesn't work either and Windows help is too generic. It assumes the issue is with the router and not with the device itself :) . I know the issue is not with the router, so no help there. Sorry

Try connecting your tablet to another WIFI network and see if it connects successfully. If not, then issue is with your Tablet itself.
Seeking help from the shop you've purchased it would be your last resort.

Good luck though!!

Has this tablet ever connected to the internet via any wifi source?

Have you tried restarting your home router? This often clears up issues where other devices can connect but a certain one can't.

One fix is to try putting the tablet in Airplane mode THEN turn on the Wifi and/or Bluetooth as needed. Keep the Airplane mode enabled. This fixes this issue a lot of the time.

I've done everything you guys have suggested. This problem has been around for more than a month now and it is very random. It connects to my wifi for a day or two and then just refuses to connect for the next week. It sees other WiFis but not mine. On the other hand, all other devices in the house recognize my wifi but the tablet doesn't. So i don't know where the problem lies.

Does the tablet have a setting to connect regardless if the router is broadcasting SSID? Is the router set to broadcast SSID?

Asus RT-AC56R dual-band WRT router (Merlin firmware). Intel 7260.HMWWB.R dual-band ac wireless adapter.
The tablet is new... so it has the latest drivers. I tried the other drivers installed in it. They are worse.
I don't know what SSID is, but the tablet does connect occasionally without me having to do anything. As I said, it's very random.
