Hi everyone, i'd really appreciate some help cause i absolutely dont know what to do anymore...
I have my SSD (Samsung SSD 840 EVO 250 GB) and apparently i totally screwed it up...
I had a boot failure, tried reinstalling Windows which failed because Windows couldn't format the disk.
I tried GParted, formatted it, deleted mbr or whatever & created a new one (by all that screwed it up even more probably)
The problem persisted.
Check Tools like Samsung Magician tell me the drive is ok, S.M.A.R.T. results look okay, too.
Now i've installed Windows (8.1 btw) on another HDD and i'm running testdisk on the SSD, but somehow i dont get any positive result whatever i try there (i dont really know what to try so im trying relatively randomly every option)...
Anyway i just want to install Windows, a fresh clean install, on this SSD, dont care about data...
But how when i dont get Windows to be able to acces / format it?

Thanks in advance and excuse my bad english please :D

If you have not tried "Diskpart" then:
  1. Win+X->Command Prompt ( Admin)
  2. Type: diskpart
  3. Type: list disk
Take a note of the disk # by looking at the size of the SSD
  4. Type: select disk #
Where # is the disk # in step 3
  5. Type: clean
  6. Type: Exit

Open disk management: Win+X->Disk Management and look if the SSD on the list and unallocated. If it is on the list:
  1. Shutdown your PC
  2. Disconnect the HD and leave the SSD in the PC only.
  3. Try installing Windows. Click on custom install, you see the SSD with unallocated partition, do not format, click Next and let Windows create the needed partitions for you, click next to install.

From the screen shot, I saw that disk 0 is unallocated. Can you right click on it then select create simple volume ? if not, download:
Now downloading: Samsung SSD Magician 4.6 - TechSpot
Install then run. Make sure you have the latest firmware as seen in the screen shot:

EDIT: Your SSD might be defective. If it fails to update the firmware then I would get a replacement for it.

Try to replace the cable of the SSD to make sure it's not faulty.
Good Luck

Have you tried the Migration software provided with the SSD?

Thank you for the help, topgundcp! I already tried another cable.
With the data migration software, I would try to migrate my OS to the SSD, right?
I'm sceptic of that to work out, I already tried to copy some folders onto it when I had it formatted with gparted in ntfs which windows did, but with a perennially changing speed of 0 - 500 kb/s
But I'll try that software this evening... thanks

Do you have another PC to connect it to see if it works ? If not, I would issue an RMA and request for a replacement since you've already tried another cable and could not update the firmware.
