Combine SSD and SD on one partition.

I have a Tablet/PC running on windows 8.1. SSD 64Gb with 1 build in slot for SD with a 64Gb SD card on it. My main hard drive (SSD) is running low on space. I want to know if is possible to combine the two partitions (SSD and SD) on one to get a large Space; and if is possible do so, IT is safe to do it?

You can get larger sized SD cards. As for merging, it cannot be done, because they are looked at the SD being a Media device.

Right, Windows does see Media devices as removable, most times can use them only for storage.

That is all they do. It is so you can store stuff on the SD card, vs. using the built in storage.

I use a USB 300 gb Hard Drive with my Amazon Fire TV, so that I can store apps on it. Due to only about 4 GB is all that is available for storage.

You can get SD cards 256 gb now. The Tablet should allow that size to be used.

In cases like this I put all my user files on the SD card. I have 2 small systems that have only 32GB SSDs (actually eMMCs). But your idea of combining them will not work.

That worked for me Kyhi, using a 64GB Transcend low profile SD card on my Aspire ES1-111M laptop. Thanks for that.

But it won't stop the puny 32GB C: drive run out of space as I install software will it?
Is there an easy way to use the SD card to extend C: drive?

When you install new software > instead of allowing them to install to say C:\programs
point the installer to the folder C:\SDcard\programs

Installing programs on the SD card may make them VERY slow. I think the SD card is better used for user files such as documents, pictures, etc. At least I do that on my 2 systems with only a 32GB disk and I have not yet run out of disk space. One of those even has a 8GB recovery partition which is still there. So the C partition has only appr. 20GB. It's all a matter of organization.
