All Wireless options disappeared from Windows8.1

My desktop pc preferable connection to the network is via Wifi. In the evening I put the pc to sleep.
The following morning without any changes being made, without any updates. The Wifi LED on the front of the CPU was not illuminated.
I was not able to find any options regarding Wifi anywhere, nothing in the charm bar.
Updates are all done and to my best knowledge drivers are all good.
This happened about a year ago and HP wanted me to send them my pc, this wasnt an option for me so HP cant help. At the time i did try doing a restore. .
Any information would be great. Thanks.
