Cannot read blu ray discs on my Pioneer Blu ray player?

I just recently Purchased a new Blu Ray player for my PC to get rid of the old DVD player I had in there, any way, I found out, that I cannot play Blu Ray movies, just DVD s? I would love some help on how to fix this problem, as it is bugging the life out of me, and I have tried the VLC trick, with no success and i have all the codecs installed, I even tried the Pot Player, but no go either, Please a fellow confused Windows 8.1 Pro 64 Bit User, I don't really feel like Reverting back to Windows 7 Ultimate if people are going to suggest that. I even purchased the full Media Player Center to try and fix things, no go either

Edit: I also tried Pioneer support, but never heard back from them

What exactly happens when you try to read Blu-ray disc from that drive?

Step 1: Try running the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter.
Step 2: Check for yellow or bangs for that device on device manager and post back the same. This will help us in assisting you better.

Have you tried downloading the drivers for it from pioneer for that model?

I cannot really find any drivers for that model, and I have checked, there is no problem with it there, the trouble is, is trying to actually read the blu ray disc

What kind of monitor do you have? In order to play Blu Ray discs, you CAN NOT use an analog cable to your monitor, it has to be a digital cable like a HDMI cable or a DVI-D cable.

Just upgraded my laptop a few days ago. I have now noticed that whatever disc I put in the Dvd/Cd drive, it does not recognize it. The laptop is only a couple of months old and the drive was working fine before the upgrade. Has anyone got any ideas on what could be wrong?
Hi there. Some of you still use DVD re-writable Discs - and although they are reasonably cheap it's annoying if you want to use one and you've run out. I still make the odd DVD from MP4/MKV blu ray rips for my folks who just want to play movies on a "stand alone" domestic DVD player. Some...
