Right clicking(only) a DVD/CD Brings up an Error

Hello, yesterday I was trying to install Exact Audio Copy to be able to RIP CD's to FLAC, the program went unresponsive and later I found out that my drive cannot produce FLAC files so I uninstalled it. Since then I get an error when trying to play CD/DVDs via right click. The screenshot below shows what this looks like, I cannot right click any type of disk, and it shows a weird reading "0 out of 7.44 GB free" which i'm not sure if its the default reading. The weird part is that I can play the CD/DVDs using autoplay and by clicking on the single track files. Anyone know a fix for this, I've tried reinstalling my drivers, setting another player as default, and setting windows media player as my default player, but nothing works, any ideas?

Hello Edson, and welcome to Eight Forums.

You might see if downloading and merging the .reg file for the listed Drive option in the tutorial below may be able to help. It will restore the default associations for drives.

I tried doing what you told me and it doesn't help much, it looks like I need to restore the whole registry and see if that makes any difference, do you know how to restore the whole registry on windows 8? I was thinking of copying the whole registry from my desktop to this laptop, although I'm not sure what effect that might have on it.

Don't copy the whole registry; it probably will lead to hauling out the OS DVD or stick and reInstalling OS. If you only meant the portion that covers the CD/DVD operations, I don't know how one can do that.

Thanks, to be honest it's not as big as it is annoying, this is what I get for messing with unfamiliar software. I will try to do a system restore and if that doesn't work, then oh well I'll have to left click DVDs/CDs to play them.

SOLUTION!!!!!: Finally after restoring my system by clicking the windows key > swiping to the left > settings > change pc settings > update and recovery > recovery > "refresh your PC without affecting your files files", I can right click DVD/CDs and they will play as before. My drive is working just fine now, however you do need to reinstall all the programs you installed after buying your computer, none of your files will be lost even hidden files and recycle bin files.
