    Microsoft Bluetooth Mouse Loosing Connection

I'm running Windows 8.1 and using a Microsoft Sculpt Comfort Bluetooth Mouse. I've been using it for months and had no issue until recently. Now, it keeps disconnecting.

If I open Bluetooth settings in the metro settings app, the mouse immediately connects and begins working. If I then minimize the settings, the mouse seems to keep working as long as I keep moving the cursor continually. If I take my hand off the mouse for just a second, it disconnects until I open the Bluetooth settings menu again.

Anyone heard of this before? What can I try?

    Thanks!

Have you tried new batteries? I have 4 of the MS Sculpt Comfort mice and if they start acting flaky I know it's time to change the batteries.

After many sets of batteries and some other troubleshooting, I installed win32diskimager which I installed the other day in order to flash NOOBS for my Raspberry Pi, and my mouse seems to be working normally again. Has anyone heard of this? I can't imagine why win32diskimager would cause my bluetooth mouse to disconnect. Plus, I kind of want to keep that program... Any way I can reinstall it without letting it interfere with anything?

That's interesting. I'll try installing win32diskimager on one of my system's using the MS Sculpt Comfort mouse and see if effects the mouse's operation.

I run the diskimager program on the machine I'm typing this on but it uses a wired mouse. Only thing I can think of for you is to run the diskimager program on another machine or to setup a VM just to run that program. A VM just to run that program is way overkill.

EDIT: I found I have an older version of win32diskimager (version 0.6) which doesn't require installation. However, I went ahead and downloaded the latest version (0.9.5) which does require installation and installed it on my system. It had zero effect on my MS Mouse's operation.

Hmm. Well I guess that ain't it then. I get updates automatically, maybe an update broke something and a subsequent update happened to fix it. I never did try uninstalling updates.... Oh well, all's well that ends well I guess.
