Cannot format write protected pen drive.

    Still nothing.

    I went to see the event log
    in event viewer.
    couldn't find anything which will relate to this.

    I've had one that looks fine, shows full 8 gig capacity available but has a bad cell on it somewhere. Once you write past about 3 gigs worth of files it errors. It even formatted without errors. Clunk.

    You can partition it around bad part but for small drives it just doesn't pay to do it.

    Even then, to me, that drive was not to be trusted, so I ditched it. I ran a few utilities at the time to confirm it was bad and chucked it. Flash drives are pretty cheap these days.

remove disk write protected in Drivers & Hardware
my 8gb tdk usb flash drive has suddenly come up with the error 'disk write protected'. there is no external switch to toogle the disk write protection. i have tried 1 method that was said to work but hasn't for me... create a key called 'SystemDevicePolices' under HKEY LOCAL...
I have an 8GB flash drive that's write protected. There is no lock/unlock on the flash drive. How can I reformat/erase the contents so I can use the flash drive for other things? I've tried low level and that didn't work. Thank you.
