Solved Does this Microsoft Basic Optical Mouse look genuine?

Hi,

I purchased this off of Amazon, but the logo looks un-Microsoft like. I was wondering if anyone knows how I could tell?

I just checked the main Microsoft Hardware site and it appears it has this type of font on it, so it might be genuine.

Out of curiosity, why would it matter? I could understand if you were concerned because you were worried whether your copy of Windows was genuine or not but a mouse is pretty generic and a Microsoft mouse isn't anything particularly special so why would you care as long as it works as it's supposed to?

It matters because when I make a purchase I'd obviously like to receive what I pay for. It may just be that if it isn't genuine it may function as well as the official thing, but in my experience they usually do not. I bought an Integral USB pen once, as my previous one worked well, I thought I'd buy another one. It blew after two days, so I checked it against my older one and noticed discrepancies in the way it looked. So I contacted Integral and they confirmed it was a fake. Non-genuine copies are frequently substandard.

Anyway, I've now ascertained that this is genuine, so my question no longer stands.
