I had a problem similar with my wifi HP 5520 printer. It was really annoying. I contacted HP, and a tech came 'down the tubes' and fixed it for me. I had the latest drivers, but something in the addressing system was wrong, and he fixed it. My printer goes offline after a while, and I get a message on screen that the printer cant be found - I ignore it. As soon as I click on something to print, the system wakes up and does the job.

for me when this happens I have 2 options to try ,first I push a button on the side of my wireless router ,to send out a signal I assume . the other is I use a USB wifi dongle [these dongles are only about 25$]to see if it will connect to my wifi router .
it possible that your wifi device died or some settings in the networking got corrupt ,
