Event ID's commonly associated with point and print...

I had the same issue and the information in the following link seems to address it. You need to use the group policy editor to make the changes as mentioned (gpedit.msc).

I don't have a guide for this but I just did what it said. I'm running Windows 8.1 myself so it does seem valid for that os. Just run gpedit.msc and under Computer Configuration expand Administrative Templates and click printers. Double-click point and print restrictions, select disabled and select ok. Then follow the same procedure for the 2nd bullet while still running gpedit. Once finished just close gpedit and reboot. If your issue is the same as mine, you should no longer see the errors in event viewer.

Configure the Point and Print Restrictions policy to Disabled.

  • Computer Configuration / Administrative Templates / Printers
  • User Configuration / Administrative Templates / Control Panel / Printers
Note: The User Configuration policy has been deprecated but is still available for backwards compatibility with legacy OS's. It is generally recommended to configure both policies to "Disabled" for uniform behavior across all clients.

Apparently the group policy editor is only included with the Pro version of Windows 8.1 which is the version I'm using. I'm at a loss as to how to do this without the group policy editor without trying to find the same settings in the registry somewhere or maybe trying to find a group policy editor version that will work. From what I've read though, the errors are benign and won't hurt anything but I know people like to have a clean event log where possible.
