Getting Canon PIXMA printers to work with Windows 8.1

Am I the only one who can get a printer to setup and work great the first time out of the box but as soon as you upgrade an operating system or replace ink or something it just never wants to print again??

So currently my printers are installed on my PC and neither are printing wirelessly, if I plugin a usb one of them prints the other doesn't. Can someone give me some sound advice on how to completely restart the driver and software process and get both printers working?

    I run Windows 8.1

    Canon Pixma MG7120
    Canon Pixma MX882

I want to use my Verizon Fios router to connect them wirelessly (is that a problem?) I used to have them on a netgear but I don't use that router anymore.

Just enter the new SSID & Passphrase for the new Gateway. Make sure it is set for Wireless-G.

No, it does not seem to be that simple. I am at least that advanced.. It is something with Windows 8.1 communicating properly with the printer or the drivers. I have definitely done that but it does not work.

The printers are both installed on the computer. But I always get "Error Printing" messages, it seems like they are not communicating properly.

I feel like the best option would be simply to remove both devices and the reinstall drivers and software. Should I just 'delete' each printer from my "Printers" folder and uninstall the software?

Also, each printer has a copy with "WS" on the end. "Canon Pixma 880" & "Canon Pixma 880 WS"

    What does that mean?

This one's got me totally buffaloed. I'm the IT Manager for a small consulting firm. Everyone travels, everyone has a laptop joined to the domain. Mostly Dell, but two of them are HP Envy M4s. One of those (originally Windows 8 Pro, now 8.1 Pro) has the weirdest printer issues. We have two...

I looked at the specs and they indicate this printer will function on W7 and W7 SP1 with no mention of W8. Could it possibly work on W8. Thanks
W8 Release Preview 64 bit found my USB connected Canon Pixma iP5000 printer, but didn't install a driver. WU says there is an update available, but that will not install. Error is WindowsUpdate_80070BC8, which doesn't help much. I haven't been able to find a 64 bit driver on any of the Canon sites,...
When I upgraded to W8 the canon Printer Driver I used in Windows 7 was updated to a generic Windows 8 which only gave option to print in colour or B&W, losing all the additional options such as duplex printing and High Quality for photos. So basically worthless on a photo printer. Canon support...
So, I was wanting to hook up my Canon RebelXT to my Win8 Laptop and use it to take pictures. I also wanted to do this as a concept for when the Win8 Pro Tablets hit the shelves. I am currently looking for better software for use with my camera connected to the PC. Even if it is run from a VM...
Hi, Can someone please help. My Cannon Pixma MP220 printer worked fine on vista, however when I swapped over to windows 8 preview I cannot get it to work (no response at all). I thought it would be a simple case of downloading a new driver from Cannon support but they do not list any drivers for...
