How or why during a regular clean install windows decide to put boot manager on my Z: data drive I will never understand.

    1. 1st attempt disconnecting all drives except my optical and C: , running windows repair did nothing to restore or at boot mang. to my C drive. Windows repair is almost as worthless as tits on a bore hog, you lucky if 1 out of 10 times it can actually repair something. As windows keep releasing new versions it should be getting wise, but it still does the same stupid things.

Was Z: the original drive used before you installed the SSD? What is the model of the SSD?

No, Z has always been a data drive, had the Samsung SSD for over a year, windows has been installed to it always.

I was able to fix this by downloading a free program called Visual BCD, it allowed me to move the boot manager over to my C: drive.

Thanks to everyone for you help, and identifying Boot Manager reside on another drive instead of C:

Yesterday, I was trying to boot the Windows 10 prerelease from an iso on my hard drive using EasyBCD. Hallo, After creating a UEFI bootable USB thumb drive with Rufus (using Windows 8.1 Enterprise ISO x64), for a Dell Optiplex 3010 (configured as UEFI only, no CSM, latest firmware version, Windows 8 installed), I didn't see a USB boot option, so I tried to add one manually. Unfortunately I...
My Dell Inspiron 660 is 2 months old. It came with Windows 8 preinstalled. My problem: I am trying to change the boot order so I can boot from CD ROM as a first option. I have tried using the "F" keys on boot, but it just ignores me and goes on to boot up. I have also tried the "Advanced Options >...

I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right place, so I apologize if I'm not. But I have a HUGE problem. I have a Gateway laptop that's only about 5 months old. It has Windows 8 on it, and when I started it up this morning, I saw the Gateway logo, and then I kept getting an error message that...
